Steve Sonne serves as Chief Legal Officer and Secretary for Sarcos Technology and Robotics Corporation, overseeing all legal activities for the company. Prior to becoming Chief Legal Officer, Sonne served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Sarcos. He is the former Senior Vice President, Associate General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Booking Holdings (Nasdaq: BKNG), the parent company of Booking.com, priceline.com, KAYAK, agoda.com, Rentalcars.com and OpenTable, overseeing Booking Holdings’ public reporting, securities offering, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance activities, among other things. In this role, Sonne handled the offering of billions of dollars of debt securities, the $2.6 billion acquisition of OpenTable and Booking Holdings’ other strategic investments and acquisitions, including transactions in China, South Korea, Australia, Brazil and Europe. Prior to Booking Holdings, Sonne served as a Partner at O’Melveny & Myers LLP, a premier international law firm.
Sonne has significant experience with public and private offerings, mergers and acquisitions, Securities and Exchange Commission regulatory matters, corporate governance, venture capital financings and general corporate counseling. Prior to joining Booking Holdings, Sonne spent 13 years practicing in Silicon Valley, representing technology companies of all sizes and in numerous sectors, including software, semiconductor equipment and e-commerce, where he handled hundreds of financing and M&A transactions. Clients have included Cisco Systems, Apple and SanDisk, as well as numerous other public and private technology companies, venture capital firms and investment banks.
Sonne was recognized by The Legal 500 as among the best in the field of emerging companies and venture capital (2010). He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Spanish from Brigham Young University, an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a Juris Doctor degree from the Duke University School of Law.
