Rudesh Patel

Head: ESG Sanlam Investments Multi-manager at Sanlam Investments

Rudesh Patel has extensive work experience in the financial industry. Rudesh is currently the Head of ESG at Sanlam Investments. Prior to this, they worked at Absa Group as a Manager of Research Investments. Rudesh also held various positions at Barclays Africa Group Limited, including Head of Investment Product Strategy and Head of Operational Risk for Investment Products. Before that, Rudesh worked as the Head of Industry and Risk Portfolio Manager at Standard Bank of South Africa. Rudesh also worked as a Programme Manager at Barclays Africa Group Limited, an Equity Research Mining Analyst at Nedbank Capital, a Risk Analyst at African Bank, and a Business Process Manager at Nedbank.

Rudesh Patel's education history starts in 1996 when they attended the University of the Witwatersrand. Rudesh completed their undergraduate education there and received an Honours degree in Chemical Engineering, specializing in Process and Materials Engineering, in the year 2000.

In 2001, Rudesh attended the Wits Business School for a short period of time, completing the Management Advancement Programme (MAP) with a focus on Business Finance.

After a break in formal education, Rudesh returned to study in 2006 and continued until 2014 at the CFA Institute. During this time, they obtained the designation of Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) after completing studies in Financial Analysis and Portfolio Management.

In 2021, Rudesh pursued further education at the PRI Academy, where they completed the Foundations in Responsible Investment course with a specialization in ESG Investing.

In 2022, Rudesh attended the GIBS Business School (Gordon Institute of Business Science) for the SAVCA-GIBS Programme in Private Equity, concentrating on Venture Capital & Private Equity Investing. Additionally, they completed the Certificate in ESG Investing from the CFA Institute, further augmenting their expertise in ESG Investing.
