J.C. Utter began their professional career in 1990 as an Announcer for WROI FM. In 1991, they moved to Crown International as a Technical Publisher. In 1995, they founded and became the CEO of ImageStream, where they managed all corporate operations with a special focus on sales and marketing, product management, and manufacturing. J.C. also made presentations at many technical conferences and helped the Wireless ISP Association (WISPA) with several important projects. In 2014, they founded and became the President of Online Training Specialists. In 2016, they joined RTC Communications-Rochester as a Network Engineer and Video Network Technician, where they are responsible for all RTCtv4 networks, production systems, and live production support. J.C. also supports RTC Telecommunications as needed with technical analysis, planning, and support.

J.C. Utter obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature from Indiana University Bloomington between 1984 and 1988. They also hold certifications as an ImageStream Certified Network Administrator (ICNA) and an ImageStream Certified Network Operator (ICNO).
