Markus Wachowski

Senior Software Developer @ Undisclosed Client at Robots and Pencils

Markus Wachowski has a diverse and extensive work experience in the software development field. Starting in 1988, they worked as a Software Developer at Chris Dubetz and Associates, maintaining and developing reporting systems using FOCUS 4GL on IBM mainframe. From 1989 to 1990, they were a Software Developer at SFU Computer Graphics Lab, where they added features to dance choreography software using C programming, vi editor, Unix, SunView, and early versions of OpenGL.

From 1990 to 1992, Markus worked as a Software Developer at TGI Technologies, followed by a role as a Software Developer at Microsoft Workgroup Canada from 1992 to 1994. During this time, they gained extensive experience in software development.

In 1994, Markus joined Crystal Decisions as a Software Developer, specializing in CMC and Infoview components of Crystal Enterprise. Markus also worked on bug fixes, localization, and internationalization of Crystal Reports. This role lasted until 2003, and they developed both C# and Java versions of the mentioned components.

From 2003 to 2008, Markus worked as a Software Developer at Business Objects, starting with their acquisition of Crystal Decisions and ending with the acquisition by SAP. Markus worked on CMC and Infoview components of Business Objects Enterprise, with their code running in Tomcat in on-premise deployments.

Markus joined SAP in 2008 as a Software Developer, working on the Cloud for Analytics project. Markus focused on developing JavaScript code for a SaaS product that followed Cloud for Planning. Their tenure at SAP lasted until 2016.

In recent years, Markus worked for various companies in different roles. Markus worked as a Senior Software Developer for undisclosed clients from 2017 to 2018 and again in 2022. Markus also worked as a Senior Software Developer at Macmillan Learning from 2018 to 2019 and from 2021 to 2021. In between, from 2019 to 2020, they served as a Squad Leader at Macmillan Learning, leading an integration squad responsible for coordinating and cooperating with other Achieve teams.

Markus also worked as a Server Developer at Varo from 2018 to 2018 and as a Software Developer at McGraw-Hill Education from 2017 to 2018.

Their most recent position, from 2021 to 2022, was as a Senior Software Developer at WGU, where they worked on developing features in a new microservice for the Dynamic Catalog backend team.

Markus Wachowski attended Simon Fraser University and completed their Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Computing Science in 1988. Later, they pursued further education at the University of Alberta and obtained a Master of Software Technology degree in 2004.
