Michael Carlson has held various roles in the field of unmanned aircraft systems since 2010. Michael began their career at Textron Systems as a Program Manager for TUAS, where they earned a Presidential Award of Excellence and two Outstanding Achievement Awards. In 2015, they moved to SAIC as a Senior Program Analyst and Unmanned Aviation SME, where they provided guidance and analyses of unmanned aircraft operations and regulations impacting safety of the National Airspace System. In 2016, they joined Lockheed Martin as an Unmanned Systems Program Manager and Business Development Manager, where they doubled sales in their first year. In 2019, they moved to Performance Drone Works, LLC as the Director of Business Development, and then to Robotic Skies as a Business Development Consultant. In 2020, they joined CompTIA as a Drone Advisory Council Member and L3Harris Technologies as a Principal Business Development. In 2021, they became President/Founder of Apex Unmanned Solutions, and in 2022 they joined PDW as the Vice President of Business Development.

Michael Carlson attended Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania from 2001 to 2003. Michael then went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Leadership from Penn State University between 2010 and 2014. In 2017, they obtained a Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration.
