Kevin Foley

Dr. Foley is a professor of neurosurgery, orthopaedic surgery, and biomedical engineering at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee. He serves as chairman of Semmes- Murphey Neurologic & Spine Institute. Dr. Foley completed his neurosurgery residency at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1985. Following residency, Dr. Foley served as chief of neurosurgery at Tripler Army Medical Center and chief of neurosurgery and chairman of the neurosurgical residency training program at Walter Reed Medical Center. In 1992, Dr. Foley left the military to enter private practice and pursue an academic career. In addition to a full-time surgery practice, Dr. Foley has authored more than 35 book chapters and more than 130 journal publications. Dr. Foley has been granted more than 150 patents by the USPTO and invented many of the tools and techniques that have enabled modern minimally invasive spine surgery. He was recently awarded the American Association of Neurological Surgeons Cushing Award for Technical Excellence and Innovation in Neurosurgery.
