Matt Townsend has worked in the software engineering field since 2003, starting as a Software Engineer intern at Motorola. Matt then moved on to Visual Concepts in 2006 as a Senior Lead Software Engineer. In 2012, they became a Software Development Manager at Amazon Lab126. In 2017, they were promoted to VP of Engineering at Kollective Technology. In 2022, they were promoted again to VP of Engineering at Aspiration. Currently, they are VP of Software Engineering at Relay Robotics.
Matt Townsend studied Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 2002 to 2005, earning a BS. Matt then attended the Academy of Art University from 2006 to 2010, graduating with an MFA in Film (Directing). In addition, Matt has obtained various certificates from Coursera Course Certificates and Coursera Verified Certificates, including Cloud Computing Capstone and Specialization, Front-End JavaScript Frameworks: AngularJS, Front-End Web UI Frameworks and Tools, HTML, CSS and JavaScript, Cloud Networking, Cloud Computing Applications, Cloud Computing Concepts: Part 2, Cloud Computing Concepts, Heterogeneous Parallel Programming, Image and Video Processing, and Machine Learning.
