Co-Founder and President at Refugee Can Be

Alisa Bhachu currently serves as the Executive Director of the Chicago Refugee Coalition and is a Co-Founder of Refugee Can Be. Bhachu has extensive experience in advocacy and leadership roles within organizations focused on refugee and women's rights, including a previous position as the President of the Chicago Refugee Coalition and as a Senior Campaigner at Amnesty International. Notably, Bhachu has held the title of Executive Director at RefuSHE, the first organization in Kenya dedicated to the empowerment of vulnerable refugee girls. Educationally, Bhachu has pursued advanced studies in Forced Migration at the University of Oxford and Northwestern University, and holds multiple degrees in Religious Studies and Humanities. Bhachu's accomplishments include participation in prestigious programs such as the Emerging Leaders Program at The Chicago Council on Global Affairs and the Cordes Fellowship in economic justice.
