Dr. Alexandra Hirschberg

Head of Eye Science at Rayner

Dr. Alexandra Hirschberg has a diverse work experience in various roles related to eye science, clinical affairs, medical affairs, and neurobiology. Dr. Alexandra is currently working as the Head of Eye Science at Rayner since October 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Carl Zeiss Meditec AG from October 2015 to October 2021, serving as a Senior Manager in Clinical Affairs. In this role, they were responsible for clinical project management, developing clinical strategies, ensuring product compliance, managing internal and external projects, and providing clinical advice and support to marketing teams and customers.

Before joining Carl Zeiss Meditec AG, Dr. Hirschberg worked as a Medical Affairs Specialist at Bausch + Lomb from January 2012 to September 2015. Dr. Alexandra also has research experience, having worked as a Postdoc at the Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology from January 2009 to January 2012, and as a Ph.D. Student in Neurobiology and Pharmacology at Heidelberg University, Pharmakologisches Institut from January 2004 to December 2008.

Dr. Alexandra Hirschberg obtained their PhD in Molecular Pharmacology and Neurobiology from Heidelberg University, where they studied from 2003 to 2008. In addition to their doctoral degree, Dr. Hirschberg has also obtained several certifications in various fields. These include certifications in Introduction to Cataract Surgery (with Distinction) from the University of Michigan in November 2015, Statistics in Medicine (with Distinction) from Stanford University in September 2015, Introduction to Good Clinical Practice from the Vienna School of Clinical Research in August 2014, Design and Interpretation of Clinical Trials from Johns Hopkins University in April 2014, Good Manufacturing Practice from TÜV SüD in November 2013, Writing in Sciences (with Distinction) from Stanford University in November 2013, Data Management for Clinical Research from Vanderbilt University in September 2013, Case-Based Introduction to Biostatistics from Johns Hopkins University in July 2013, and Klinische Studien für Medizinprodukte (MPG) from Forum MedTech Pharma e.V. in July 2013.
