Karl Schmeckpeper is a Research Scientist at The Boston Dynamics AI Institute since June 2023, with a robust background in robotics and artificial intelligence. Karl completed a PhD in Robotics at the University of Pennsylvania, where leadership roles included Site Integration Lead for the Robotic Collaborative Technology Alliance and Navigation Team Leader for a project on autonomous indoor service robots. Previous experience includes work as a Student Research Assistant at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, where Karl developed systems for 3D mapping, and a Summer Research Intern focusing on unmanned underwater vehicles.
