Providence Hall seeks a highly skilled and enthusiastic junior high school science teacher to join our team.

Schedule:

  • 8 hours/day on scheduled teaching/working days

  • The 5-7 days before the scheduled start date of the school year

  • Parent-Teacher Conferences

  • Department, building, and LEA professional development, trainings and meetings

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging junior high school science & STEM lessons that align with the curriculum and educational standards.

  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation, fosters a love for learning and where students feel comfortable exploring new concepts, challenging themselves, and collaborating with other students, to include conducting experiments and participating in STEM activities.

  • Understand and employ strong classroom management techniques, including the use of the schoolwide PBIS system.

  • Employ various teaching strategies and resources to differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and meet students' diverse needs.

  • Assess student progress in various ways, administer required benchmarks as one of the tools to assess student progress, and use assessment data to provide constructive feedback to facilitate individualized student growth and improvement.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and coordinate interdisciplinary projects and activities.

  • Establish effective communication channels with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative learning community.

  • Actively participate in department, grade level, campus, and LEA meetings, professional developments, and other trainings.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Current valid Utah teaching license (in CACTUS) in Secondary Education with Science Core Endorsement (minimum).

  • Strong knowledge of Utah state standards, Utah science core curriculum, and best instructional pedagogy practices.

  • Proven classroom experience or completion of student teaching in science & STEM at the junior high school level.

  • Ability to create a unit plan that is aligned with standards, engaging, and includes differentiated lesson plans to meet the diverse needs of students.

  • High level organizational skills with strong attention to detail and ability to multitask easily.

  • Positive interpersonal skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.

  • Creative analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Professional communication skills including but not limited to: excellent written and verbal communication skills; confident, articulate and professional speaking abilities; empathetic listening; and persuasive speaking.

  • Experience with Skyward.

  • Knowledge of Google Workspace and its collaboration tools.

  • Capacity to perform all the responsibilities listed in this posting.

  • Must pass a comprehensive check of education verification and professional references as a condition of employment.

  • Lift up to 25 pounds, traverse school facility, and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
