Reverend Sarah E. Mather, M. Div, BCC has a diverse work experience, including roles as a Chaplain in the US Air Force Reserve and at UCHealth.
In their role at UCHealth, Reverend Mather has served as a Staff Chaplain at the University of Colorado Hospital since September 2015. Their primary clinical responsibilities include providing spiritual support and guidance to Burn ICU, Emergency Department, and COVID ICU patients and their families. Additionally, they serve as an ethics consultant on the University of Colorado Hospital Ethics Committee, providing assessment and consultation on ethically difficult medical cases. Reverend Mather also teaches in various post-graduate education settings, such as physical therapy, nursing, and medical, to educate students and staff on the role of spiritual care in the holistic treatment of patients and families. As a member of the Behavioral Health Committee, they provide staff support through critical incident debriefs and one-on-one meetings to address compassion fatigue and burnout. Moreover, they are involved in a palliative care research grant in the outpatient setting, where they offer spiritual care to patients with neurological illnesses like Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, and Muscular Sclerosis.
Before joining UCHealth, Reverend Mather worked as a Chaplain Resident from August 2013 to August 2015.
In addition to their work at UCHealth, Reverend Mather also serves as the Head Coach at Pro Skills Basketball since February 2019.
Reverend Sarah E. Mather, M. Div, BCC has a solid educational background in divinity and religious studies. Reverend Sarah E. obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion/Religious Studies from Transylvania University, where they studied from 2004 to 2008. Following this, they pursued a Master of Divinity degree at Vanderbilt University, specializing in Divinity/Ministry, and completed their studies from 2010 to 2013.
In addition to their academic achievements, Reverend Sarah E. Mather also holds a certification as a Board Certified Chaplain, which they obtained in April 2017 from the Association of Professional Chaplains.
