John Sesek has extensive work experience in finance and administration. John started their career as an Accounting Manager at the Cuyahoga County Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services Board from October 1990 to October 1992. John then worked at EDEN as the Director of Finance and Administration from July 1995 to July 1998. After that, they joined the Positive Education Program as the Chief Financial Officer, starting in July 1998.

John Sesek attended Columbia University from 1972 to 1976, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History. John then went on to pursue their Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) degree in Community Based Non-Profit Organizations at the University of San Francisco, from 1978 to 1983. In 1986, John Sesek studied Accounting at Northwestern University, where they stayed until 1989. In 1990, they briefly attended Cleveland State University to pursue Auditing, although it is unclear whether they obtained a degree from there.
