Jimmy Poon

Head of Sales and Business Development at Polar

Jimmy Poon has extensive experience in sales and business development, spanning over 25 years. In 1996, they began their career as Regional Director at Ammirati Puris Lintas Digital, where they established a new business division of digital offerings from scratch. Jimmy then moved to Tribal DDB in 1999, where they put in place a digital practice with a clearly laid-out road-map, while building a regional team of 60 people in 3 offices. In 2007, they took on the role of Managing Director at Púca Technologies Ltd., re-purposing a predominantly mobile SMS offering to one that integrated SMS, mobile web and apps. From 2010 to 2013, they served as Head of Business Development, China at IPG Mediabrands Ventures, where they identified platform partners and new media owners, before they gained critical recognition, and formed partnerships, in phases that would eventually lead to equity positions. Jimmy then moved to admanGo Advertising Data Analytics SaaS, where they revolutionized a 15-year-old advertising monitoring company to one that monitors audiences, and provides insights on these audiences' preferences and behaviour via social. In 2017, they began their tenure at Blis as Head of Sales and Trading, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and later as Head of Sales, and Agency Group Head, where they lead BLIS Hong Kong and achieved revenue target that raised Hong Kong’s ranking to the top spot of 9 APAC business units in under 1 year. In 2021, they took on the role of Head of Sales and Business Development at HOTDESK Asia, and Head of Audience and Business Development at POPTICKET. Jimmy is currently Head of Sales and Business Development at NOVA.

Jimmy Poon obtained their MBA from Schulich School of Business - York University in 1993, where they studied Arts, Entertainment, and Media Management. Jimmy received their B.Sc. from the University of Toronto in 1988, where they studied Animal Behaviour & Fine Arts.
