Alan Loomis is a well-regarded urban designer with extensive experience in urban design and planning, particularly in California. Currently serving as Principal of Urban Design at PlaceWorks since June 2020, Loomis has successfully led numerous high-profile projects, including the San Bernardino Downtown Specific Plan and the Long Beach Downtown Shoreline Vision Plan. Previous roles include City Urban Designer for the City of Santa Monica and Deputy Director for Urban Design & Mobility for the City of Glendale, where substantial contributions were made to urban housing and commercial space development, as well as grant acquisition for design projects. With an educational background that includes a Master of Architecture from SCI-Arc and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Detroit Mercy, Loomis combines practical expertise with academic involvement as a participating adjunct faculty member at Woodbury University School of Architecture from 2007 to 2018.
