Gregory Asmolov

Gregory Asmolov has a long and varied work experience. Gregory began their career in 2003 as a Correspondent in Israel for the Kommersant newspaper, where they covered main political, security and economic events. In 2005, they became a Security Analyst and TV Commentator for the "Israel Plus" channel. From 2007 to 2010, they were a Research Fellow at The Asper Institute for New Media Diplomacy at the Interdisciplinary Center, where they developed a concept for a new media coordinating center for emergency situations, created educational programs and advised on various projects in the field of advocacy. In 2010, they also became a Research Assistant at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University. In 2010, they Co-Founded Help Map, a crowdsourcing crisis mapping project in Russia. From 2011 to 2017, they were a PhD candidate at the Media and Communications Department at the London School of Economics, where they were also a Graduate Teaching Assistant. During this time, they were also a Contributing Editor for "RuNet Echo" - a project of Global Voices that investigated and covered the role of the Internet in Russia and in the Russian-language worldwide community. From 2017 to present, they have been a Lecturer in Digital Entrepreneurship and Marketing at the Department of Digital Humanities at King's College London, a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow at the Russia Institute and a Visiting Lecturer at the Department of Digital Humanities. Gregory is also the Co-Founder of PitchMe.

Gregory Asmolov received their PhD in New Media, Innovation and Literacy from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) between 2011 and 2017. Prior to that, they obtained a Master in Global Communication, The Elliot School of International Affairs from The George Washington University between 2008 and 2010. Gregory also received a BA in Communication and International Affairs from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem between 2003 and 2006. Gregory attended Boyer between 1994 and 1998, and Georgetown University at an unspecified time. Additionally, they obtained an Associate Level, Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCertHE) from the UK Higher Education Academy (HEA) in August 2015.
