Don Madelung has a diverse and extensive work experience in the postsecondary education sector. Don served as the President of Herzing University from 1989 to 2010, where they successfully transitioned the institution to full affiliation with the Higher Learning Commission. Following this role, they became the Director of Corporate Relations at Madison College, responsible for fundraising and alumni relations. Subsequently, Madelung held the position of President at Madison & Minneapolis Media Institutes and Rockford Career College from 2012 to 2014. Don then joined Pierce Mortuary Colleges, Inc. as Vice President, providing admissions, financial aid, and management expertise to three colleges within the Wilbert Group. In 2021, Madelung continued their career as the President & CEO of Pierce Mortuary Colleges, Inc., overseeing long-term growth and education excellence for funeral service training and education. In addition, they own Madelung Consulting, LLC, where they provide consulting services to non-profit and for-profit postsecondary colleges and universities, specializing in strategic planning, budgeting, and management.

Don Madelung obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Pre-Law from Augustana College in 2000. Don Madelung also completed a Master's Degree in Counselor Education/School Counseling and Guidance Services & College Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
