Patrick Moynihan

Associate Director, International Research Methods at Pew Research Center

Patrick Moynihan is associate director of international research methods at Pew Research Center, providing methodological leadership across the Center’s international projects. Prior to joining the Center, Patrick was the survey methodologist at the U.S. Department of State, where he supported dozens of international survey projects annually and was responsible for complex sample designs, questionnaire development, weighting and data-quality assessment. He previously served as assistant director of the Program on Survey Research at Harvard University and senior polling analyst at ABC News. Moynihan also worked as an election night consultant for ABC News and represented the network on the National Election Pool’s questionnaire committee. He has published and presented on a broad range of methodological and substantive topics, and has served on the executive council of both the New York and New England chapters of the American Association for Public Opinion Research. Moynihan received his doctorate in sociology from SUNY Stony Brook.
