Sean Fitzgerald has worked in various roles in the medical field since 2010. In 2010, they began working as a Research Assistant to a Life Science Consultant for Innovation 21 Ireland. From 2015 to 2017, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Biomedical Diagnostics Institute, the Centre for Research in Medical Devices - CúRAM, and the Mayo Clinic. In 2016, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher at AbYBiotech, where they were responsible for the large scale expression and purification of monoclonal and recombinant antibodies for commercial sale and supply. Since 2019, they have been an Honorary Lecturer in Physiology at the National University of Ireland, Galway. In 2022, they began working as a Clinical R&D Engineer for Perfuze.
Sean Fitzgerald obtained their Leaving Certificate from Árdsciol Rís, Limerick in 2003. Sean then attended the University of Galway from 2004 to 2008, where they earned an Undenominated Science in Physiology and Biochemistry. From 2009 to 2010, they completed a Masters in Neuropharmacology at the same university. Finally, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Colorectal Cancer from Dublin City University in 2015. Additionally, they hold a Research Integrity (CúRAM) certification from the National University of Ireland, Galway.
