Lara Fowler serves as the Chief Sustainability Officer and Director of Penn State Sustainability, focusing on interdisciplinary education in sustainability and decarbonizing university operations by 2035. With extensive experience in environmental law and research, Lara teaches courses on water law, energy law, and environmental mediation while conducting research on water and energy conflicts, particularly related to the Chesapeake Bay and climate change. Previous roles include Assistant Director of Outreach & Engagement at Penn State Institutes of Energy and the Environment, Attorney at Gordon Thomas Honeywell LLP, and Senior Field Liaison at the Oregon Water Resources Department. Lara holds a Bachelor's degree in Asian Studies/Water Resources from Dartmouth College, a J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law, and is currently engaged in a Program on Negotiation at Harvard University.
