Paul Sachs has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Paul began their career as a Research Assistant at the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center in 1998. The following year, they joined Michael Baker International as a Planning Analyst II, where they focused on developing floodplain maps for FEMA and provided GIS technical support.

In 2002, Sachs transitioned to Ottawa County, initially working as a Land Use Planner. Paul then moved on to the role of Management Analyst in 2005, followed by Assistant Department Director in 2010. Most recently, they held the position of Director of Strategic Impact, which they held until the present.

In addition to their county government work, Sachs has also assumed leadership roles in the private sector. In 2014, they became the Executive Director of ACRE AgTech, an entrepreneurial support organization in Michigan that focuses on advancing agricultural technologies.

Overall, Sachs has developed a broad skill set through their various positions, combining their expertise in planning, strategic impact, and technology.

Paul Sachs received their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences from Western Michigan University, where they studied from 1995 to 1998. In November 2020, they also obtained a Climate Change Professional (CC-P) Certification from the Association of Climate Change Officers.
