Jakob Schjørring-Thyssen has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Jakob started their career as a Student Assistant in Global Regulatory Affairs at Ferring Pharmaceuticals in 2010, where they were responsible for compiling files, gathering scientific intelligence, and maintaining databases. Concurrently, from 2010 to 2015, they also worked at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Copenhagen as an Assistant Teacher, teaching analytical chemistry and pharmaceutical technology to bachelor students.
In 2014, Jakob transitioned to a role as a Pharmacist Assistant at Steno Apotek before becoming a Pharmacist at the same company in 2015. In the same year, they also began working as a Scientific Assistant at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, where they taught bachelor students and conducted individual research in polymeric formulations.
From 2016 to 2019, Jakob pursued their Ph.D. as a Ph.D. Fellow at Chr. Hansen. Jakob continued their association with the company as a Project Manager, managing a cross-organizational project alongside their Ph.D. studies. In 2020, they took on the role of Product Development Manager at Chr. Hansen until 2021.
Currently, Jakob is the Head of R&D North America at Oterra, a position they have held since 2022.
Throughout their career, Jakob has demonstrated a strong background in pharmaceutical sciences, research, teaching, project management, and product development.
Jakob Schjørring-Thyssen completed their education in a chronological order. Jakob started with high school at Vordingborg Gymnasium from 2005 to 2008, focusing on Mathematics and Chemistry. Jakob then pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen from 2008 to 2012. Following that, they obtained a Master's Degree in Pharmacy from the same university from 2012 to 2015. During their master's program, they also participated in an exchange program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2012 to 2013. After completing their master's, Jakob went on to earn a PhD in Food Science and Technology from Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, which they achieved from 2016 to 2019. In 2018, they were a Visiting PhD Scholar at Ryerson University, focusing on Food Science. Additionally, in 2013 and 2014, Jakob took part in the BBIP - Biobusiness, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Project at Copenhagen Business School.
