Philipp Unterbrunner is an experienced technology leader currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer and Managing Director at Observe, Inc., where Unterbrunner has been since October 2017. As a co-founder of the company, Unterbrunner has extensive experience in the tech industry, including a software engineering role at Facebook, where contributions were made to a distributed message queuing system, and as a founding engineer at Snowflake Computing, where significant portions of the SQL execution engine were developed. Previous positions include senior roles at Oracle Labs and ETH Zürich, where Unterbrunner conducted doctoral research in computer science, specifically in relational query execution and concurrency control. Unterbrunner's educational background includes a PhD from ETH Zürich, a Master of Engineering from Cornell University, and a Dipl.-Ing from the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria.
