Simone Libralato is a prominent marine scientist with extensive experience in researching marine ecosystem functioning and ocean health. Currently serving as the Director of Science at OGS since January 2020, Simone utilizes quantitative approaches to inform the management of activities affecting marine resources. Previous roles include Senior Scientist and Ricercatore at OGS, where research focused on the combined effects of various pressures on marine ecosystems and the development of food web models. With a strong academic background, including a PhD and Laurea in Environmental Sciences from Università Ca’ Foscari di Venezia, Simone has contributed to numerous regional, national, and international research projects, emphasizing the ecological impacts of fishing, climate change, and aquaculture through innovative modeling and assessments.
