Stephen Merola MD FACS FASMBS DABS currently serves as Surgical Quality Officer and Vice Chairman of Patient Safety & Quality in the Department of Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian/Queens, with roles as Chief of the Section of General, Minimally Invasive and Obesity Surgery and Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College. Merola's previous positions include Interim Chairman and Associate Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College, Attending Surgeon at Metropolitan Surgical Group, and Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellow at Hackensack University Medical Center. Extensive residency training was completed at NYU Langone Medical Center, Bellevue Hospital, and Manhattan VA Hospital. Merola holds an MD from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and a BA in Biology from Franklin & Marshall College.
