Gil Ronen began their work experience in 2000 as the Project Head-Plant genomics at Compugen Ltd. Gil then moved on to Evogene in the same year, where they served as the Chief Scientist & VP of IP until 2008. In 2010, they founded NRGENE Ltd and currently holds the position of Founder & CEO. NRGENE specializes in developing computational solutions for the crop breeding industry using proprietary algorithms to analyze plant genomic and phenotypic information.

Gil Ronen obtained their Ph.D in genetics from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, which they attended from 1994 to 2000.
