Lia MacDonald was appointed Vice President, Customer Experience and Innovation.
Lia joined Nova Scotia Power in 2000 and has extensive operational experience, having held increasingly senior roles in the areas of field operations and storm response, work management and resource allocation, asset management, and system and capital planning. Her previous roles include Director of Planning, Senior Director T&D Field Operations and Senior Director Enterprise Asset Management.
In her 20 years with the company, Lia has played an instrumental role in various operational and regulatory initiatives. Most recently, she has been co-leading the 2020 Integrated Resource Plan - which charts a course for our electricity system’s transformation towards a low carbon future - while overseeing the integration of the company’s generation, transmission and distribution asset management, reliability and capital programming. In her current role, Lia leads all facets of Transmission, Distribution and delivery of electricity to customer across Nova Scotia, including overall day-to-day operations, workforce safety and productivity, and customer experience.
Lia holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Dalhousie University and is a registered Professional Engineer with Engineers Nova Scotia. She received a Master of Business Administration from the Sobey School of Business Executive MBA program at St. Mary’s University. Lia is an alumna of Nova Scotia’s 21 Inc. Leadership Program and is currently a Board Member of Halifax’s Ward 5 Neighbourhood Centre. She has a strong passion for grassroots community volunteer programming, such as the important work carried out by Ward 5.
