Julie Beth Smith is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in external affairs and economic development, currently serving as the Vice Chancellor for External Affairs, Partnerships, and Economic Development at North Carolina State University since January 2019. Prior to this role, Julie served as the Associate Vice Chancellor for the same department at the university and held the position of Assistant to the Chancellor for External Affairs at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke from October 2016 to December 2018. Additionally, Julie worked as the Associate General Counsel at the North Carolina Sheriffs' Association, Inc. from September 2011 to September 2016. Julie obtained a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2009 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from North Carolina State University in 2006.
