Katie Christman

Katie Christman has a diverse range of work experience. Katie began their career as a Dolphin Trainer at the National Marine Mammal Foundation in 2014, where they conducted data analysis on behavioral, acoustical, and auditory data collected from the Navy's dolphins. Additionally, they utilized custom-built software to analyze the auditory capabilities of dolphin systems. Katie also collaborated with other scientists and communicated with the primary investigator on scientific experiments.

In 2016, Katie joined the Marine For Life Network as a Marine For Life Representative in San Diego. In this role, they provided assistance and resources to active duty Marines transitioning into the civilian world. Katie served as a point of contact for employment, education, and other needs, aiming to support Marines during their transition.

Before their work at the National Marine Mammal Foundation and Marine For Life Network, Katie served as a Supply Officer in the US Marine Corps from 2008 to 2014. Katie fulfilled this role in various units and deployed to OEF 11.1. Katie'sexperience as a Supply Officer included serving with 7th ESB, MASS 3, and WFTBn, MCRD, San Diego.

Overall, Katie Christman has a well-rounded background in research, training, and support services, with a focus on marine mammal research, military logistics, and assisting transitioning Marines.

Katie Christman began their education at the United States Naval Academy in 2004, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Oceanography and successfully completed their studies in 2008. Katie then went on to attend Marshall University from 2016 to 2017, earning a Master of Arts degree in Leadership Studies. Building on their academic achievements, Katie enrolled at the University of California, San Diego in 2020 and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Experimental Psychology, which they are expected to complete in 2024. Prior to their PhD, they also obtained a Master of Arts degree in Experimental Psychology from the same institution, which they completed from 2020 to 2021.
