Siddhartha Bhowmik has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Siddhartha started their career as a Graduate Researcher at Argonne National Laboratory in 1995. Siddhartha then worked at Lucent Technologies Microelectronics as a Thin Films Engineer and RTP Process Engineer, where they developed and transferred metallization processes and implemented Rapid Thermal Processing systems.
After that, Bhowmik joined Agere Systems Optoelectronics Division as a Member Technical Staff, where they developed dry etching and trench etching processes for semiconductor devices. Siddhartha also implemented hardware improvements to reduce wafer breakages.
Siddhartha then worked at HP as a Senior Member Tech. Staff, where they managed projects to introduce new technology and products in manufacturing. Siddhartha also integrated and developed processes for fluidics and thin film integration.
Bhowmik later joined Sandia National Laboratories as a Principal Member Technical Staff, before moving to Micro Systems Engineering (Biotronik), where they held the position of Project Management-Staff Engineer. In this role, they managed projects, conducted reliability engineering, and obtained certifications in project management and FDA regulations.
Currently, Bhowmik works at nLIGHT. Siddhartha first served as a Process Engineering Manager, where they developed and sustained processes and equipment with a team of scientists, engineers, and technicians. Siddhartha then became a Senior Process Engineering Manager, leading the transformation of the team to a highly automated diode packaging process. Currently, they hold the position of Director of Process Engineering.
Siddhartha Bhowmik has obtained a PhD in Material Science from Oregon State University, which they pursued from 2004 to 2009. Prior to this, they completed their Master of Science (MS) in Material Science and Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University, studying from 1993 to 1995. Furthermore, they earned their Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Physics from Coe College between 1990 and 1993.
