Steffen Adler has worked as a researcher at the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research since 2005. Steffen also has experience as a researcher at Bioforsk.

Steffen Adler has a strong education background in the field of animal nutrition. Steffen obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Animal Nutrition from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB) from 2006 to 2012. Prior to that, they earned a Master's Degree in Agroecology from the Agricultural University of Norway (NLH) from 2001 to 2003. Steffen also has a High School education in Organic farming, which they completed at Sogn jord- og hagebruksskule in Aurland, Norway, from 1995 to 1997.
