Russell Main is a Senior Scientist at Scion since January 2023, with extensive experience as a Research Scientist in remote sensing at CSIR from April 2007 to February 2023. Russell conducts significant remote sensing research focused on terrestrial systems, encompassing both natural and agricultural environments, and actively participates in multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional research projects to produce actionable geospatial insights from Earth Observation data. Russell holds a PhD in Geoinformatics from the University of Pretoria, an M.Sc in Biodiversity and Conservation Biology from the University of the Western Cape, and a B.Sc (Hons) in Environmental Science/Geography along with a B.Sc in Environmental Science from Rhodes University.
