Michael P. Jacobs has extensive experience in economic analysis and policy, currently serving as the Assistant Director at the New York City Independent Budget Office since 2008, after initially joining the agency as a Senior Economist in 1996. At the Independent Budget Office, Michael has contributed to various projects including economic and tax revenue forecasting, analysis of tax policy changes, and income distribution analysis, while also supervising other economists. Prior to this role, Michael worked as a Senior Legislative Analyst for the City Council of New York and as a Research Consultant for the New York State Department of Economic Development. Michael holds a PhD and MA in Economics from the New School for Social Research and a BA in Government from Oberlin College.
