Sam Murphy-Sugrue has been working in the software engineering industry since 2021, when they began working at Net Purpose as a Software Engineer. Prior to this, they worked at SmartestEnergy from 2018 to 2021, where they held the roles of Senior Trading Developer and Trading Analyst. In their role as Trading Analyst, they were responsible for making bespoke tools and forecasting models for the traders, carrying out data analysis to gain market insight, and developing and maintaining the codebase and carrying out code reviews. From 2013 to 2018, Sam worked at CCFE - Culham Centre for Fusion Energy as a PhD Student. During this time, they obtained their PhD from the University of Liverpool and developed key skills in programming, writing a simulation code in C and numerous analysis codes in Python to interpret and visualise data from their simulations.
