Allie Bidwell Arcese

Senior Director, Strategic Communications & Engagement at National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA)

Allie Bidwell Arcese has a diverse work experience in the field of communications and journalism. Allie started their career as a Newsroom Intern at KTVU, where they conducted research and assisted in coordinating communication between the newsroom staff and journalists. Allie then worked as an Editor and Senior Writer at The Daily Californian, where they managed a team of reporters and ensured the quality of university news publications.

Allie also gained experience as a Metro News Intern at the San Francisco Chronicle, where they produced content for online and print products. Allie had one of their stories picked up by an ABC News affiliate and The Seattle Times.

Allie joined Sharp HealthCare as a Marketing Events Assistant, representing and promoting physicians, programs, and services at various events, while also assisting in research and the creation of corporate communications.

Allie's career in journalism continued at U.S. News & World Report, where they covered national education policy as a National Education Reporter. Allie further honed their journalism skills at The Chronicle of Higher Education as an Editorial Intern.

During their time at the National Science and Technology Medals Foundation, Allie worked as a Freelance Writer, researching and writing stories on various topics such as health, research, science and technology developments, education, and the workforce.

Allie then joined the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA), where they held multiple roles. As a Reporter, they wrote news content and feature stories on financial aid policy, research, and legislation. Allie later became a Senior Reporter and Audio Content Producer, supervising an intern and handling editing and press release duties. Allie then served as the Managing Editor, overseeing the editorial functions and ensuring the quality and relevance of NASFAA's daily email newsletter and policy-focused podcast. Currently, they hold the position of Director of Communications and sits on NASFAA's strategic leadership team, where they recommend and implements communication strategies to raise awareness of NASFAA's work and impact.

Throughout their career, Allie has demonstrated a strong passion for journalism and communications, with a focus on education policy and financial aid.

Allie Bidwell Arcese obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley, where they studied from 2008 to 2012. Prior to attending university, they attended Cathedral Catholic High School from 2004 to 2008, but did not obtain a degree or pursue a specific field of study at that time. In addition to their formal education, Allie has obtained several certifications including "Advancing a DIBs Strategy in Your Organization," "Creating a Communications Strategy," "How to Write a Marketing Plan," "How to Write a Press Release," and "Managing High Performers" from LinkedIn in July 2023.
