Matt Lohier has been in the software engineering industry since 2000. In that time, they have held various roles with several different companies. Matt started their career at Open Telecommunications as a Software Engineer and Team Leader, developing in C++/OO on Unix with extensive multi-thread, design patterns, and network programming. Matt also developed in Java using CORBA. In 2004, they moved to e-Travel as a Software Engineer, where they designed and developed new components into the web booking engine/travel reservation system from Amadeus. Matt was responsible for functional specifications and analysis, detailed designs, and server-side programming with Java, J2EE (JSP, JSTL, Servlets), and Struts. In 2005, they joined Personal Broadband Australia as a Principal Software Engineer, where they were involved in full-stack development of microservices using gRPC, Golang, Typescript, and ReactJS. In 2009, they moved to DOCOMO interTouch Pte. Ltd. as a Senior Software Engineer - Rails Developer, where they were involved in Ruby/Rails development of a high-profile enterprise-wide CRM. In 2010, they joined Sparx Technology as a Principal Software Engineer, where they were one of the core engineers who started building the real-time, high-velocity Participation-TV voting platform enjoyed by millions of people worldwide. In 2020, they joined mx51 as the Head of Cloud Infrastructure and Principal Cloud Engineer. Matt is a software/ops engineer passionate about continuous improvement and automation, and they have extensive experience in developing software as well as building scalable solutions on AWS and Google Cloud including Kubernetes.

Matt Lohier obtained a Bachelor's degree from Institut supérieur d'électronique et du numérique in 1993-1995. Matt then went on to obtain a Master's degree in Computing Sciences from INSA Lyon - Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon in 1995-1998.
