Teresa Barros-Bailey has a diverse work experience in various organizations. Teresa began their career in 2013 as an International Business Intern at the Idaho Department of Commerce. From there, they worked at Frontier Horizons as a Risk Analysis Intern and later became the Country Report Team Leader, overseeing a team of student writers. In 2015, they joined the Centre for Security Studies at ETH Zurich as a Summer Research Intern for the Mediation Support Project.
In 2016, Teresa worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Monterey Terrorism Research and Education Program, followed by a role as a Graduate Research Assistant at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies in 2017. During this time, they also interned as an Analysis Intern at Thomson Reuters Special Services.
Teresa's experience in the field of counter-terrorism includes roles at the U.S. Department of State, where they contributed to a database on global law enforcement engagement with Islamic State-connected actors. Teresa also worked as a Research Assistant at Navanti Group, conducting research and analysis.
Most recently, since 2018, Teresa has been working at Moonshot, initially as an Analyst, contributing their expertise to the design and development of methodologies and technologies to counter violent extremism. Teresa then transitioned into the role of Project Manager in 2022.
Teresa Barros-Bailey pursued their education starting from 2012 to 2016 at the University of St Andrews, where they completed their Bachelor of Arts (Joint Honours) degree. During this time, their chosen field of study was International Relations and Arabic. Teresa furthered their academic journey by attending the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey from 2016 to 2018. Here, they obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree specializing in Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies.
