Gorkem Y. is the Founder and CEO of General Aviation Flight Tracker since 2017. Previous to that, they worked at Merit Travel Group from 2009 to the present, initially as the Manager, I.T. Development and later as the Director, I.T. Development. From 2002 to 2009, Gorkem was a Senior Developer at Travel CUTS. Prior to that, they were a Developer at PSINet Canada from 1998 to 2002 and a Web Designer at Interlog Internet Services in 1998. Gorkem's earliest work experience was as a Systems Administrator at Globenet Communications from 1996 to 1997.

Gorkem Y. attended Learning Tree International in 1999 and 2007 without obtaining a degree or specific field of study. In 2019, they obtained a Private Pilot License from Transport Canada - Transports Canada.
