Francois Sornay began their work experience in 1992 as a Lawyer at Holman, Fenwick & Willan in Paris. Francois then moved on to work as a Legal Counsel at ELF - International Supply and Trading from 1998 to 2000. Following that, they worked as a Senior Legal Counsel at TOTAL - Trading and Shipping from 2000 to 2006. Since 2007, they have been serving as the Group Chief Legal Counsel at Mercuria Energy Trading S.A.

Francois SORNAY obtained their Maîtrise de Droit des Affaires (LLM - French General Trade Law) from the Université Paris Nanterre, completing the degree between 1986 and 1990. Francois then pursued further studies and earned a DESS de Juriste d'Affaires International (5th year degree - International Trade Law and Arbitration) from Université Paris Cité, which they completed in the year 1992.
