David Voelkel is a seasoned museum professional with significant experience in curatorial and preservation roles. Currently serving as the Senior Curator & Director of Historic Preservation at Maymont since April 2019, David previously held the position of The Elise H. Wright Curator at The Valentine from August 2012 to April 2019. During this tenure, David oversaw the General Collection, which encompasses over 500,000 diverse items that reflect the daily life of Richmond, including household goods, fine art, and industrial artifacts. David holds a Master of Arts in Museology/Museum Studies from the University of Leicester.
