Doug Stephens has had a diverse range of work experiences in the environmental field. Most recently, they worked as a Principal Natural Resource Specialist at the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission since December 2017. Prior to that, they served as a Watershed Projects Manager at Arlington County from November 2014 to December 2017. Additionally, they held positions at Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission as a Park Manager/Water Quality Manager from February 2012 to November 2014, and at the Wildlife Habitat Council as a Wildlife Biologist from April 2008 to February 2012. Earlier in their career, Doug worked at BrightFields, Inc. as an Environmental Analyst from October 2006 to March 2008.
Doug Stephens completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of Delaware from 2002 to 2005. Doug furthered their education by pursuing a Masters degree in Environmental Science with a concentration in Ecological Management at The Johns Hopkins University from 2009 to 2012.
