Sonia Basu is a seasoned tax professional with extensive experience in global tax management. Currently serving as Global Director of Tax at Martinrea International since March 2022, Sonia previously held the position of Assistant Director of Global Tax at Magna International Inc. from 2013 to 2021. Prior roles include Tax Director and Head of Tax for Canada at UBS (2010-2012), Tax Manager for Canada and Latin America at American Express Canada (2006-2010), and Tax Manager at Bell Globemedia Inc. (2005-2006). Sonia's career began at KPMG LLP in Canada, where roles included Tax Senior Manager and Tax Specialist from 1996 to 2005. Educational qualifications include a CPA, CA in Accounting, Tax, and Law from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, a CA from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and a Bachelor of Science in Statistics from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, India.
