Nikki Stevens

Mental Health Professional at Lorenz Clinic

Nikki (she/her) is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Minnesota. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Winona State University and her Master’s Degree in Social Work with an emphasis on mental health from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. With nearly 7 years of experience in the mental health field, Nikki has been helping her clients to understand and cope with mental health diagnoses and symptoms, as well as mental health crises.

As a clinician, Nikki’s professional background includes helping adults and adolescents with a range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, mood disorders, thought disorders, amongst others. Nikki also has experience supporting individuals working through addiction and difficult life transitions. Above all else, Nikki understands the importance of a strong therapeutic alliance with her clients, acknowledging it is the vehicle for positive change. Additionally, Nikki realizes that treatment is not a “one size fits all”. She is familiar with numerous therapeutic approaches to best tailor treatment to meet a person’s individualized needs.

When working with clients, Nikki acknowledges that people are complex beings with many systems influencing one’s identity, attitude, and behavior. To navigate these complexities, Nikki uses a holistic, person-in-environment approach, along with a strengths perspective to help clients understand and meet their identified goals. Nikki understands that change can be hard and utilizes motivational interviewing techniques to work through ambivalence. Nikki values self-determination and empowers clients to make their own informed decisions.
