Patrick Wang has worked in a variety of roles in the materials science field since 1995. Patrick began their career at Bell Labs Lucent Technologies as a Member of Technical Staff, where they synthesized and characterized new high molecular weight vinyl ether oligomers for optical fiber coating formulation. In 1998, they moved to Fiberguide Industries as a Senior R&D Engineer, where they formulated new UV-curable polymer resins as hard cladding for multi-mode silica optical fibers. Patrick then joined SpectraSwitch in 2000 as a Senior Research Engineer, where they led an engineering team to design and concept-proof LC based re-configurable optical add/drop multiplexer (R-OADM) modules. In 2003, they moved to InPhase Technologies as a Member of Technical Staff, where they led recording material development and developed formulations of blue sensitive (~405 nm) photopolymer media for holographic data storage. In 2011, they became the Director of Chemistry and Applications at Advenira Enterprises, and in 2013, they joined Grabit, Inc. as a Principal Engineer. Since 2019, they have been working as the Director and Materials Scientist at Light Field Lab, Inc.
Patrick Wang obtained a B.S. in Chemistry from Xiamen University, followed by an M.S. in Chemistry from The University of Alabama in Huntsville, and then a Ph.D. in Materials Science from The University of Alabama in Huntsville.
