Sumaita M. is a dedicated legal professional currently serving as a Legal Intern at Legal Services NYC since June 2022. Prior experience includes a Research Assistant role at the Human Rights Institute, Columbia Law School, where contributions were made towards advancing the Right to Education and Peace-Building in Kashmir. This involved establishing peer-mentorship networks, creating media updates, and collaborating with nonprofit organizations for surveys and focus groups, as well as coding interviews using Stata. Sumaita's background also encompasses positions as an Undergraduate Research Fellow at the Center on the Future of War and the Center for the Study of Religion and Conflict at Arizona State University, an International Security Intern at New America, and a Mayo Clinic - ASU Barrett Premedical Scholar Intern. Education includes a Doctor of Law (JD) degree from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Political Science from Arizona State University.
