Gen Sun has a wealth of work experience in the fields of machine learning, data science, computer vision, software engineering, and research. In 2020, Gen Sun worked as a Machine Learning Engineer at Kneron and a Data Scientist at Rockwell Automation. At Kneron, Gen Sun reproduced multiple SOTA human pose estimation algorithms and analyzed their portability on edge AI chips. At Rockwell Automation, Gen Sun rapid prototyped multi demos of vision-based automatic leather defect detection solution in car seats quality control system. In 2019, Gen Sun was a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of California San Diego, where they worked on recommender systems design on Goodreads and RentTheRunway. In 2018, Gen Sun was a Computer Vision Engineer at ZTE Corporation, where they worked on image acquisition and image performance modification in vehicle license plate recognition program. In 2017, Gen Sun was a Software Engineer at the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute, China Academy of Science, where they designed and implemented WebApp for safety emergency command system in large chemical industry area. In 2016, Gen Sun was an Undergraduate Student Researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles, where they proposed enhancements of the accuracy and operation efficiency of the wide baseline matching algorithms. In 2014, Gen Sun was a Student Research & Software Team Leader and Technical Director at Zhejiang University, where they managed a team to devise a barcode auto-recognition system based on images captured by multiple cameras and innovatively quantified human mental fatigue level based on captured EEG signal and driver behavior experiment.
Gen Sun attended Zhejiang University, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Information Engineering. They then went on to attend University of California, Los Angeles, where they studied Computer Science. Finally, Gen Sun earned a Master of Science in Computer Science from UC San Diego.
