Matt Rau has a diverse and extensive work experience. Matt most recently served as a Board Member at Veteran Cabin Corridor starting in March 2023. Prior to that, they were an ISR SME and JCTD Manager at Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory at JCTM since October 2022.
From July 2019 to September 2022, Matt worked at the United States Marine Corps as the Division Director and Capability Portfolio Manager. Matt managed the intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capability portfolio, overseeing a budget growth from $500 million to $1.8 billion.
Before that, from August 2017 to July 2019, they were the Commanding Officer at the USINDOPACOM Joint Intelligence Operations Center, leading a team of over 1,000 personnel involved in intelligence analysis and operations.
From February 2016 to June 2017, they served as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence at III Marine Expeditionary Force, responsible for the Marine Corps Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Enterprise in the Western Pacific.
Prior to that, from January 2014 to January 2016, they held the same position at Third Marine Division G-2, where they acted as the principal advisor to the Commanding General on all aspects of intelligence support.
Matt's earlier experience includes being the Commanding Officer at Second Radio Battalion from June 2010 to June 2012, where they deployed the signals intelligence and electronic warfare battalion in combat in Afghanistan.

From 2013 to 2014, they attended Australian Defence College / Deakin University, where they obtained a Master's degree in Defense & Strategic Studies.
In 2013, they also attended Australian Defence College and earned a Master of Arts degree from Deakin University, specializing in Military Strategic Studies.
In 2010, they completed Joint PME II at Joint Combined Warfare School, Joint Forces Staff College, focusing on Joint Specialty Officer training.
From 1998 to 1999, they attended Command & Control Systems Course at Marine Corps University, acquiring Professional Military Education and career-level schooling in areas such as command & control, MAGTF operations, warfighting, and information management.
In 1989, they graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics.
From 1984 to 1987, they attended Eugene Bible College and was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Biblical Studies.
In addition to their formal education, Matt Rau holds several certifications. Matt completed the Core Concepts for Requirements Management course at Defense Acquisition University in December 2019. In August 2019, they also completed the Intro to the Joint Capabilities Integration & Development System course at Defense Acquisition University. Furthermore, they obtained the Naval Security Manager's Course certification from Naval Education and Training Command in 1994, and they became a Weapons and Tactics Instructor at Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron - One (MAWTS-1) in November 1993.
