Erica Aren has a diverse work experience in various Jewish organizations. Erica currently holds the position of Senior Director of Roots + Culture at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Administrator at Golden Bridges School. Erica has also held leadership roles, such as Director at Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards and Project Manager at InterfaithFamily. Erica has experience in program management, personnel management, strategic planning, and evaluation. Furthermore, they have worked as a Program Officer at American Jewish World Service, where they focused on human rights campaigns and volunteer empowerment. Erica also gained experience in grant writing and program development as a Writer/Researcher at Abraham's Vision and as a Program Coordinator at Jewish LearningWorks. Additionally, they have provided consultation services as a Consultant at BlueStarPR. Earlier in their career, Erica served as a Regional Director at BBYO, overseeing programs and operations for a pluralistic movement of Jewish teens.
Erica Aren has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology from The Ohio State University. Erica also pursued a Fellowship for Educating for Applied Jewish Wisdom at The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) from 2018 to 2019. Erica has completed coursework for a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Education at San Francisco State University. In addition, they hold a Graduate Certificate in Jewish Service Learning from San Francisco State University, which they obtained in 2007. Erica has also received certifications as a Postpartum Doula from Cornerstone Doula Trainings and in Human-Centered Design from NovoEd / IDEO, both in 2015.
