João Manuel R. S. Tavares is a Full Professor at the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, where responsibilities include serving as a member of the Advisory Committee of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Scientific Committee of the Master Course in Biomedical Engineering, and co-chairing the Symposium CompIMAGE. Tavares also holds editorial positions as Editor-in-Chief for the journals Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering as well as Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering: Imaging & Visualization since 2012, and co-editor of the book series Lecture Notes in Computational Vision and Biomechanics since 2011. Additional roles include co-chairing the ECCOMAS Thematic Conference on Computational Vision and Medical Image Processing and coordinating research and projects at INEGI Porto. Tavares has a comprehensive academic background with a Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical and Computer Engineering and ongoing habilitation in Mechanical Engineering from the Universidade do Porto.
