Claire started their career as a Graduate Student/Research Assistant at the University of Iowa in 2008, where they conducted research on cell-based immunotherapy and the regulation of Toll-like receptors in melanoma. In 2014, Claire transitioned to the role of Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Norian lab at the University of Iowa. Here, they focused on the correlation between obesity and the involvement of myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) in the development of cancers like sarcoma and renal cell carcinoma. Claire analyzed serum cytokines and peripheral blood mononuclear cells from human cancer patients and utilized techniques such as multiplex and immunohistochemistry.
In 2015, Claire joined the University of Virginia as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Rutkowski lab. Claire developed and tested nucleic acid vaccines against viral-derived targets, primarily in oncology. Claire also served as the non-clinical lead for the ITI-3000 and ITI-1001 project teams. Claire'sresponsibilities included designing and monitoring biodistribution and toxicity studies for ITI-3000, a nucleic acid vaccine indicated for use in Merkel cell carcinoma.
